We have two types of fee structures — hourly fees and contingency fees.
Hourly Fee Cases: The majority of our cases are handled on an hourly fee basis. The hourly rate charged depends on the attorney's experience and the complexity of the legal issues involved. We provide a military discount rate. Each hour is divided into 1/10 hour (not 1/4 hour) increments so that a six-minute call or e-mail with a partner costs you $30 (not $75). Over the course of the representation, this saves clients a great deal of money in hidden costs that other firms charge. Maryland law requires domestic relations (family law) matters be billed on an hourly fee basis.

Retainer Fee: In hourly fee cases, we usually ask that the client provide a retainer fee to cover the estimated costs of the representation. This assures us we will get paid if we do the work. The retainer fee is held in a separate bank account containing the client's funds (called a client escrow account). We withdraw money from the client's escrow account to pay our bills as they occur.
At the end of the legal representation, if there is still money remaining in the client's escrow account, then it is refunded to the client If the amount billed exceeds the retainer fee, then the client owes us the difference The retainer fee is a good faith estimate of the likely costs of the representation.
Paying the Retainer Fee Over Time: Frequently, clients will pay the retainer fee with a credit card. However, we understand that sometimes it is difficult for our clients to pay the entire retainer fee at the beginning of the representation. Therefore, we will frequently allow clients to pay the retainer fee over a period of several months. We believe in working with our clients so that we can help them both now and over the long term.
Contingency Fees (Personal Injury Cases): Unlike hourly fee cases, we handle personal injury claims on a contingent fee basis. We will not bill you for our time unless we recover compensation for your losses. In other words, you don't pay unless we win Also, our legal fees are based on the amount of your recovery The more you get, the more we get, so our financial incentive is to get your as much money as possible!
